NABC HONORS FOR FRAISE AND JOHNSON
University of North Alabama seniors Kenny
Johnson and Thomas Fraise have earned
All-South Region honors from both The
National Association of Basketball Coaches
(NABC) and Daktronics.
The NABC team is selected and voted on by
member coaches of the NABC. The 88
student-athletes, from eight districts,
are now eligible for the State Farm
Coaches' Division II All-America teams,
selected by the NABC. The Daktronics
selections are made by the sports
information directors at the NCAA Division
II basketball-playing institutions.
Johnson, a Plaquemine, LA native, was
previously named first-team All-Gulf South
Conference and GSC East Division Player of
the Year. This season he averaged 15.5
points per game, shot 51.9 percent from
the floor and 81.3 percent from the free
throw line. He ranked third in the GSC in
assists at 5.04 per game. He finished his
career with 1.135 points to rank 16th
all-time at UNA.
Fraise, a New Orleans, LA, native, was
also first-team All-GSC. He averaged 17.9
points and 7.3 rebounds per game. He
scored 1,038 career points to rank 20th in
UNA history.
The duo helped lead UNA to an 18-10 record
in 2009.
