LIONS PICKED TO FINISH FOURTH IN GSC

BIRMINGHAM – Head coaches from around the Gulf South Conference have selected the University of North Alabama men’s basketball team to finish fourth in the league standings this year. In the annual GSC Pre-Season Release, the Lions received 28 total points to finish in the middle of the eight-team conference.

UNA received three votes for third place, one vote for fourth place and three fifth-place nods.

Defending South Region champion Alabama-Huntsville received all seven first-place votes to earn the unanimous choice of pre-season favorite. The Chargers also enter the season ranked second in the nation by the Division II Bulletin, and No. 4 by The Sporting News.

Valdosta State was second with 40 points, including one vote for first place, four for second place and one vote each for third and fourth places. Christian Brothers finished just ahead of UNA with 35 total points. The Buccaneers nabbed three votes for second and three votes for third places. CBU also collected one sixth-place vote.

West Georgia was behind the Lions with 22 points while Delta State (19 points), West Florida (18 points) and West Alabama (13 points) rounded out the rest of the pre-season standings.
