DAVISON JOIN LIONS

Ricky Davison is the newest UNA Lion

The University of North Alabama Men's basketball team took another step in filling its roster for the 2010-11 season with the signing of Ricky Davison. The 6-2 guard will have one year of eligibility remaining after playing last season at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock following two seasons in community college action at Southern Union State.

"Ricky is an extremely quick combo guard who can get to the basket and push it in transition," said UNA head coach Bobby Champagne. He is also a very capable three-point shooter. One of the things I like most about Ricky is the fact that he also has great leadership qualities and toughness."

Davison played in 28 games last season at UALR averaging just under six points and two rebounds per game. He shot 51 percent from the three-point line and 80 percent from the free throw line in his junior season for the Trojans.

The Fort Deposit, AL, native scored in double figures 19 times and scored at least 20 points on 11 occasions during his sophomore season at Southern Union. After leading the Bison in scoring at 16.8 points per game, he was named first team All-Region XXII as a sophomore. He also ranked seventh in the ACCC in made three- pointers per game. He poured in a career-high 40 points against Wallace State-Selma by going 13-of-21 from the field, 6-of-10 from three-point range and 8-of 10-from the free throw line.

Prior to enrolling at Southern Union, Davison attended Calhoun High School in Letohatchee, AL, where he was a three-sport standout in basketball, football and track and field.

"Ricky will bring some much needed senior leadership to this team," Champagne added. "He is a young man who excels in the classroom, he will be a great role model for our younger players and it doesn't hurt that he can shoot the basketball as well."
